Celebrating Life

Celebrating Life

Even the smallest touch can make a big difference in personalizing your funeral services. There's no right or wrong when it comes to celebrating your loved one and honoring their life, accomplishments, and individuality. Are funerals for honoring the dead? Or are they to help the living begin to grieve? Funeral directors can help you create a beautiful service that does both. Listen to conversations had by real families and then start your own conversation on RememberingALife.com

Honor What Made Them Unique

Personalization isn't just about honoring your loved one's individuality. It also allows family and friends to feel connected to the services and the life being honored. A memorable and meaningful service can be an important part of the healing process for those who are coping with a loss. The Stevens staff work closely with you to get to know your loved one's life story and brainstorm ways to represent your bond and pay tribute to their unique journey.

We offer a variety of ways to personalize a funeral/memorial service for your loved one…or for yourself. Please discuss your preferences for personalization with your funeral director. We will arrange everything for you.

Our Gift To You

In honor of your loved one and family, our staff will present you with a keepsake plaque as our gift. The obituary and photograph of your loved one will be reproduced on a brass plate and mounted on wood. You may wish to display it in your home or office.

Video Tributes

Gather photos of your loved one, and we will create a lasting tribute on DVD that can be viewed during visitation or a service. We can also (at no extra charge) add a video link to the online obituary so family and friends around the world can view it. Additional copies of the video tribute can be purchased by family and friends.

Webcasting

Webcasting, or live streaming, allows families who have relatives and friends unable to attend the ability to watch the funeral over the internet. This option is becoming more widespread as an easy and cost effective way of sharing the service if reasons such as cost, distance, or health prevent people from attending in person. Family and friends often comment how important it was to have the webcasting option. Recording and having a DVD of the funeral allows families to view the service at a later time with more clarity once emotions have subsided, and keep it for future generations.

Personalizing Caskets

Every funeral presents an opportunity to share a life story. From simple, personalized touches to elaborately themed services, you have unlimited possibilities for creating a meaningful tribute. The casket, too,  can be personalized using commemorative embroidered panels, embroidered overthrows or LifeSymbols® designs. These popular casket enhancements are also used as individual keepsakes for family and friends and include themes of patriotism, gardening, sports, family relationships, and spirituality.

Balloon Release

We will provide your family with a bouquet of balloons in the color of your choice. Our staff will coordinate the balloon release to take place at anytime throughout the service.

Dove Release

As these beautiful doves fly into the sky with a burst of energy, it reminds us of the soul's ascent into Heaven, and the abundant life that blesses each one of us. The dove release is most meaningful for graveside services.

Personalized Printed Material

Whether you wish to have photos included on memorial folders or a family prayer or quotation included on prayer cards, the options and choices are yours to make. Several choices of register books, memorial folders, and prayer cards are available to customize as you desire.

Memorabilia Display Tables

Any special photographs, personal memorabilia, and other items can be beautifully displayed to reflect the true personality of your loved one. In the past, items such as golf clubs, baseball mitts, ballet shoes, artwork, handmade quilts, and even motorcycles have been displayed.

Bag Piper Musician & Others

Let the enchanting sound of the Highland Bagpipes be a presence at your funeral service. You may request that the bagpiper escort the casket from the funeral coach to the gravesite or that he play in the distance before and after services. Arrangements may be made for the bagpiper to play at chapel, church or memorial services. You can also request a violist, a pianist, organist, and vocalist.

Military Honors

You can honor your family’s Veteran with Military Honors on behalf of a grateful nation. Depending on the branch of service, we can offer color guard, Taps, a gun salute or even pallbearers. In addition, we can apply for an American Flag and a bronze marker through the Veterans Administration.

Website Obituary

An on-line obituary is a great way to celebrate a loved one’s life. Family and friends can leave guestbook condolences, view photos, and more.

Our on-line obituaries also have a link to SharedBook® where anyone can create a book filled with the decedent’s information, guestbook condolences, and pictures. The on-line program gives you the chance to create a custom book that can be cherished forever.
