The wonderful thing about technology is that it can bring people together from all over the globe to make it easier for you to find information and support networks in your time of need. The following are some of the tools available to assist you in your healing journey.

GriefShare is a group of people who will walk beside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

Webhealing.com, the internet’s first interactive grief website, has served the bereaved on the internet since 1995. It offers grief discussion boards where men and women can discuss issues related to grief and healing or browse our recommended grief books. The site’s originator, Tom Golden, LCSW, is an internationally known psychotherapist, author, and speaker on the topic of healing from loss.

The Compassionate Friends exists to provide friendship, understanding, and hope to those going through the grieving process after the life-altering experience of losing a child (at any age, from any cause). Through a network of more than 625 chapters with locations in all fifty states, as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, The Compassionate Friends has been supporting bereaved families after the death of a child for four decades.

Financial Help for Cancer Victims. While the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) made it easier for cancer patients and those with pre-existing cancer diagnosis to access health insurance in some cases, the financial burden of cancer is still extreme. According to the American Cancer Society, direct medical costs relating to cancer surged to $87.8 billion in 2014. Of that amount, 58 percent of costs were the result of hospital outpatient or doctor visits and 27 percent were the result of inpatient hospital stays.

AFSP Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.

UT Medical Center, The loss of a loved one can be a terribly painful, stressful and confusing time for the survivors left behind. In addition, many people never have the chance to talk about the grief they’re experiencing. To help the bereaved understand and live with the loss of a loved one, The University of Tennessee Medical Center is hosting a series of adult bereavement support group meetings.
