Gisela Glaser Hopper - age 88 of Knoxville died at home on November 24, 2016. She was a retired Knoxville City school teacher after 25 years. Mrs. Hopper was the first German war bride to graduate from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Hopper was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by husband Melvin Hopper and Daughter Linda Dexter.

Survived by sons Ronald (Carolyn) Hopper of Blaine and Steve Hopper of Knoxville; Son-in-law Denny Dexter of Alpharetta GA; grandchildren Dr. Doug Dexter (wife) Dr. Courtney Dexter of Lewisburg PA, Rhonda (Jeff) Jenkins of Blaine , Amanda Hopper of Blaine, Carrie and Alex Hopper of Knoxville; great grandchildren Jaeden and Hunten Jenkins, Lily, Caitlyn and Callie Newman.

Memorials may be made to Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, 405 Black Oak Dr. Knoxville, TN 37912.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
