Stephens, Cecil Franklin, of Powell, TN December 4, 1928 - March 5, 2016, graduate of Old Knoxville High School, passed away peacefully at Vanderbilt University Medical Center surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He has gone to be with our Heavenly Father and many friends and family, complete and healed. He was devoted to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially enjoyed seeing them participate in team sports.
He is the son of Leonard and Emma Stephens, brother to John, Floyd, David, Lucille White, Ellen Jenkins, and Opal Yoakum.
He is survived by Rhoda Stephens, mother of his children, sister, Emma Lea Bunch; his sons and daughters, Larry and Kenna Stephens, Janice and Walker Hodges, Rodney and Janice Stephens, and Denise Howard; grandchildren, Calvin Stephens, Tara Fox, Leah McCarus, Jesse Stephens, Jeremy Hodges, Joshua Stephens, Tanessa Stephens, Joey Stephens, Ashley Sumner, Amanda Hill and Cody Howard; he is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren. He checked on his children everyday and was a prayer warrior for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren daily. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was especially grateful for all the love and care provided him by his dear friends and precious neighbors, Marvin and Sandy Burum, true saints!
Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Callahan Road Baptist Church, 1317 Callahan Road, Powell, TN with funeral service to follow. Rev. Jack Parrott officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Claxton.
