WILBURN HAL CATE - age 90, of Knoxville, was born January 13, 1926 at home in Kodak, Tennessee to P. W. and Vestia Bryan Cate.
Mr. "C" was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He loved to work and drive and did so until he was 88 years old. He worked for Swans and Kerns Bakery, retired from Mason-Dixon Truck Lines, Loy Coach, Choice, Knoxville, and Mayes Tour Companies. He talked about logging over 2 million miles accident free while meeting people and seeing all of the USA and all of Canada.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers, one sister; grandson, Shawn; and first wife, Lillian Griffey Cate.
Wilburn is survived by his wife, Barbara Griffin Cate of Knoxville; daughter, Patricia (Robert) Zacharias of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Stephanie Messman; two great-granddaughters, Payton and Marley; sisters, his twin Willie Cate, and Lena Holbert; several nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to your church in his memory, or the Knoxville Kerbela Shrine Van Drivers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Kent Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
