Passed away Tuesday August 29, 2017 at his home. He was a long time member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, deacon at Callahan Road Baptist Church, and former pastor at Smith Grove Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served as Chaplin in the Tennessee Army National Guard at Harriman and was retired from K-25.

He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel S. Lee Jr.; mother, Evelyn T. Smith; stepfather, Earl G. Smith.

Survivors; wife of 57 years Rebecca Lee; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Debbie Lee; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Mark Ward, Ruth Ann and Ron Shepler; father, Earl S. Lee; grandchildren, T. D. Lee, David Ward (Krysten), Deanna Shepler, Sarah Stokes (Blake), Luke Lee, Lori Shepler, and Betsy Lee; great-grandchildren; Stephanie and Abigail Lee; sister and brother in law, Paula and Joe Dearing; special aunts Nora Sloan and Emma Shultz; uncle, Roy Lee.

The family will receive friends 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stevens Mortuary Oglewood Ave at North Broadway. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Dr. Todd Stinnett officiating.
