In the early morning hours of December 17, 2015, Nita Coker Webb (Mrs. Shields Webb) is now singing the old gospel hymn "Glad Reunion Day". After 95 glorious years on earth this dedicated, faithful Lady, went home to be with her Lord and Savior; her minister husband, Shields Webb; eldest son, Paul Sanders (Sandy) Webb; her parents, Albert and Montana Butler Coker; her sisters, Gladys, Blanche, Dyllis, Elizabeth and Jean; her brothers, Ralph, baby Carl, Paul, Elmer and David.
Family members who remain on earth include her son, John Richard Webb and his wife Lori Kincaid, Del-Rio; daughter-in-law Louise Ogle Webb, Sevierville; grand-daughters, Charla Webb Foster and her husband Roger Foster, Sevierville; Tara Webb, Philadelphia, PA, and Shonna Webb McConnell and her husband Shannon McConnell, Cumming, GA; great-grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Matthews, Zachary and Zoe Curle; step-great-grandchildren, Trey Foster, Brittany, Hannah, Peyton and Sophia McConnell; sister-in-Law, Helen Webb Woods, Madisonville; and extended family members.
A Knoxville High School graduate, class of 1939A; Carson-Newman College, 1944. Many young lives were influenced during her years teaching high school at Cumberland County High School in Crossville and Lenoir City High School in Lenoir City. Nita was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City.
Go rest on high on that mountain, your work on earth is done. Your life's work has touched so many and your influences will be passed down for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life will begin 2:00 pm Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Stevens Mortuary, 1304 Oglewood Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917.
