SPARKS, NANCY YOUNG - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away 11:10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Beverly Park Place.
She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and worked in the Outreach Program. Nancy loved seeing children involved in church and growing up loving The Lord. She worked 32 years for Woolworth's on Gay Street, and 22 years for Shoney's on Broadway where she met many wonderful people. Nancy and her husband owned and operated CeeBee Grocery Store in Smithville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Truitt Sparks; parents, Millard and Martha Young; brothers, Homer, Huey, Jimmy, and Kenneth Young; and sister, Ott Smith.
Survivors: daughter, Angela Darlene (David) Dailey; son, Michael (Sandra) Sparks all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kevin (Tara) Sparks of Knoxville, Billy (Becca) Sparks of San Antonio, Texas, Katy (Scott) Sparks Mull of Nashville, Tennessee, Jimmy Hembree and Sam Dailey of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Jackson Sparks and Tristan Sparks of Knoxville, John Pierce Sparks, Mackenzie Sparks, and Emmeline Sparks all of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Edith Bolden of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Lucy Grigsby of Luttrell, Tennessee; Dewey Young of Taylor, Michigan, and Lillard Young of Corryton; best friends and neighbors, Jim and Sandra Hendrix of Knoxville; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Beverly Park Place 1st floor staff, and Amedysis Hospice for their love and care.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Scott Whaley officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
