Williams, Myrtle Faye Lambdin age 90, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday. She came from the coal-mining community of Pruden, the eldest child in her family, and learned the profit of being industrious at an early age. During WWII, she worked in the airplane factories in Baltimore as a Riveter. Knoxville and Knox County had been her home since she relocated here after WWII. She worked for many years in the Knox County School System as a teacher's aide. Briefly also serving as a substitute mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
She was a member of Corryton Church until health issues forced her inactivity, and also had been a member at Smithwood Baptist Church for many years, as well as other Baptist churches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bessie Lambdin; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lambdin, Jr. and Ethel; husband, Charles Edward Williams; eldest daughter, Jacqueline Wynn.
A gracious, elegant and beautiful widow, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, she will be missed by her family, friends and loved ones.
Survivors: siblings, June (Eugene) Frye, Lois Greene (widow of John Howell Greene), Eugene Lambdin ( widower of Jewel Dean and Jean Wright), Clarence "Monk" (Cora) Lambdin, David (Jean) Lambdin; half siblings, Tony (Brenda) Lawson, Phyllis (Ancil) Arnett, Nancy (Chester) Keith, Steve (Joyce), Ruby (Mike) Lee, and Pansy Lambdin ( widow of Robert Lambdin); children, Joseph (Netta) Williams, Lisa (Stan) Pevy, Sharon "Sherry" Williams; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren (and families); 2 great-grandchildren; and was eagerly anticipating a third great-granchild; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and neighbors.
Family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Stevens Mortuary with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Rocky Ramsey officiating. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. Inurnment service 12:00 noon Saturday at Unitia Cemetery in Friendsville.
