Mildred (Mickey) Ritchie Walker, 89, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at NHC Healthcare of Knoxville. She was born on August 17, 1928 in Coalfield, TN and was the daughter of Arlie and Dora (Norman) Ritchie. Mickey was a Customer Service Representative for BIKE Athletic Company for over thirty-three years. In 1989, she was named BIKE’s Employee of the Year. She was a faithful member of Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church for over forty years where she had many friends.
Mamaw Mickey will be remembered by her family for her warm loving spirit and her homemade spaghetti and meatballs. She was an avid TN Vols football and basketball fan. She also enjoyed weekly luncheons with her dear church friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Dora Ritchie; one brother, Arlie Jr. and one sister, Nelda Daniels. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Steve (Charlotte) Walker of Morehead, KY and Frank (Patricia) Walker of Hixson, TN; one brother, Ralph Ritchie, Murfreesboro, TN; nieces, Jeanie Eddy and Sharon Ritchie; a special niece, Debbie (Michael) McKinney of Knoxville; three granddaughters, Michelle (Walter) Ehmling, Knoxville, Amy (Jonathan) Worman, New York, NY and Carrie (Joseph) Norden, Morehead, KY. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren, Megan, Jacob, and Ashley Ehmling, Natalie, Abram and Sadie Norden and Baylor, Casey and Dallas Worman and one great-great granddaughter, Aria Raymond.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Kathy Minor, Tennova Home Health, Tennova Hospice and the staff at NHC Healthcare for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church Youth Foundation.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Stevens Mortuary, 1304 Oglewood Ave., Knoxville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Stevens Chapel with Pastor Tom Seay officiating, Michael McKinney delivering the eulogy and prayer and music by Nita Privette. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville. Pallbearers are Michael McKinney, Jonathan Worman, Walter Ehmling and Joseph Norden.
