Lucy was born October 9, 1921 and was married for 76 wonderful years to George O. Steele. A homemaker and a mother of 2 children were her passions. She enjoyed sewing and canning of vegetables from the garden and especially loved the game of golf, always proud to say the she had made 2 holes in one during her playing years. Lucy was a member of Inskip Baptist Church and her involvement in foreign missions needs brought great joy to her heart. Her friendships with others were greatly treasured and she could always fill the air with words of enlightening stories. Though there were tragic events in her life, Lucy maintained a positive outlook on life and a strengthened faith.
During her 96 years on earth she gave back countless times more then she had taken, a joy to be around and a blessing to so many. Miss Lucy, as she loved being called, left this world a better place with the lives she touched and will be greatly missed. The family wants to thank Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center and Windsor Gardens Assisted Living for their nursing and daily care over the past few years of Miss Lucy, where care and compassion were always shown.
Family will receive friends Sunday August 19 between hours of 2 and 4 pm at Stevens Mortuary in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers contributions to Inskip Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated. Family and friends will meet 9:45 am Monday, August 20 at Highland Memorial Park for a graveside service and interment at 10 am with Reverend Mike Segers officiating.
