Obituary

LILLIAN GOODLIN - age 88, of Knoxville, passed away 11:58 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Ben Atchley State Veterans Home.

She was a longtime member of Fountain Park Bible Baptist Church, and retired from Dempster Brothers after 20 years of service.

Her daughters have treasured memories of traveling cross-country to follow their father in his career working on the Trans-Continental Natural Gas Pipeline. With limited education, Lillian managed to transport her girls from Knoxville to various locations between Wisconsin and New Mexico. She set-up housekeeping, enrolled Beverly and Denise in schools, and included their childhood companion Ginger, a white Spitz dog in their journeys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Goodlin; mother, Susan Barnes; brother, James Harris; and sister, Rosalee Patterson.

Survivors: daughters, Beverly L. Goodlin of Knoxville, and Denise Goodlin (Jim) Murray of Maryville; brother, Tipton (Ann) Barnes of Halls; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary with Reverend John Holland officiating.

The family and friends will meet 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Sumpter Community Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 1:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
