Kyle E. Butcher age 93, of Powell, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Retired from Avondale Farms and Stevens Mortuary where he worked as a funeral assistant for over 30 years. Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Kyle was in the Normandy Invasion and also the Battle of The Bulge.
Preceded in death by parents, Van Buren and Elsie Butcher; sisters, Iretta Johnson and Evelyn Ridner; son, Ronnie Butcher; son-in-law, Lloyd Strawn; grandchildren, Kevin and April Butcher.
Survivors: wife of 65 years, Betty Butcher; daughter, Karen Butcher Strawn; sons, Stephen and Kenneth Butcher, all of Powell; step-daughter, Vickie Houser of Knoxville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Beeler of Powell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Joyce Butcher of Janesville, WI, Van and Susan Butcher of Sparta, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Stevens Mortuary followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Rex Eledge officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment.
