Gay, John Thomas, age 57 of Knoxville, formerly of Pine City, MN.
John was of the Methodist faith, owner and operator of PAPS Plumbling, a U.S. Navy veteran serving on submarines, USS Sturgeon, USS Narwhal, USS San Francisco, and battleship USS Missouri. Proud life member of the NRA, Range Safety Officer for John Sevier Rifle Range, Cubmaster & Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America and numerous other organizations.
John was predeceased by his parents, Dolores and Tom Gay: brothers, Robert (Bobby) and Michael Gay.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Gay; daughter, Amanda and husband, Charlie Trout; son, Johnathan Gay; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Zavadil (Rod) and Deborah McKeown (John); brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott (Kathy) Gay, Neil (Diana) Gay, David (Colleen) Gay; special friends, Steve Vandergriff and Bob Jones; several nieces and nephews and numerous other family members.
Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday followed by a Celebration of Life service at 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Mortuary. Family and friends will meet 9:15 a.m. Friday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery for a 9:30 a.m. graveside service and interment. Serving the family, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
