James M. (Jimmy) Leitnaker, Jr. (Uncle Bimmie), born February 3, 1947 and died July 12, 2018. He was larger than life with a heart of gold. Jimmy’s life moved him from Kansas to New Mexico, back to Kansas to Knoxville, then to New York, before returning to Knoxville to find the love of his life, Vickie, to settle down for his last 40 years.
For the last several years, he was a proud member of the Loyal Order of the Moose where he was awarded the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest honor bestowed on a member.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ivy Jean Leitnaker; grandparents, Ruth and Cherry Leitnaker and Will and Bertha Sansom.
Those left to miss him greatly are wife, Vickie Scarbro Leitnaker; father, James M. Leitnaker, Sr.; in-laws, Willard and Cleo Scarbro; sisters, Ruth (Jeff) Paddock, Mary (Bill Kelch) Leitnaker, Sara Shaver; brothers, Pete (Sharon) Leitnaker, John (Anne) Leitnaker; sister-in-law, Linda (David) Dietz; many special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; fur babies, Yoda and Stretch; along with many wonderful friends.
Family will receive friends Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Sara Shaver officiating. A Moose celebration of life will be 1:30 P.M. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Knoxville Moose Lodge 1560. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy’s honor to Mooseheart Child City and School Inc., Mooseheart, IL 60539 or to the charity of your choice.
