Obituary

Jack Dillion Allen, Jr. (Applejack), age 72 of Knoxville, went home to be with his heavenly Father, Saturday, January 5, 2019, with his wife by his side. He was a longtime member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church, serving as Elder for several years, and was loved by all of his church family. Born September 19, 1946 to Jack D. Allen, Sr. and Stella Smith Allen, Knoxville, Tennessee. He lived his entire life in Knoxville and attended Powell High School. As a plasterer by trade, much of his work can still be seen in Knoxville, the surrounding area and throughout the country. Always there to help anyone, anytime, with a beautiful smile. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Carolyn Allen Bruner and brother, John Herbert Allen. Survived to mourn his passing are his wife of 41 years, Mary Ellen (Tauscher) Allen; daughters, Sherrie Allen Miller, Wendy Allen, Knoxville, Shawna Allen, Morristown, TN; step-son, Jason Gentry (Danae), Troy, NY; granddaughters, Hayley Gentry, Granby, CT, Raelyn and Riley Gentry, Troy, NY; grandsons, Lucas Williams, Hayden Miller, Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Williams; special niece, Missy Allen Fernandez (Joe), Kodak, TN, Sheree Perry (Paul), Knoxville, Laura Tauscher, Nashville; nephews, Boyd Foster, JoshTauscher (Heather), Knoxville, Clayton Tauscher, Virginia Beach, VA, Luke Tauscher (Mary), Atlanta, GA, Jake Tauscher (Julie), Ft. Worth, TX and a host of many other nieces and nephews he loved dearly; sister, Nora Allen Foster, Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Karl Tauscher (Darla), VA Beach, VA, John Tauscher (Jane), Ft. Worth, TX; best friends, Mitch Collins (Rachel), Carl Maples (Kaye) and all his brothers of VFW Post 1733.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, January 9, 10:00-11:00 am at Christus Victor Lutheran Church with service to follow, Pastor Bill Ondracka, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 4110 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville, TN 37912 or donations may be made to the family.
