Eugene (Gene) McEver Headrick - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, retired from Tom’s Food, and a US Army veteran serving from 1948 to 1954, 18 months of which was during the Korean War. He was also a member of Beaver Ridge F & AM Lodge #366, Scottish Rite Kerbela Shrine Temple, Knoxville Shrine Club, and Grainger County Shrine Club. Before joining the US Army, he sold programs for the UT Vols football team as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams. He resumed selling programs after he returned home from the Army and continued to sell them until 2018.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Edna Hopper Headrick, and Rose Lee Holder Headrick; parents, Doc and Georgia Akins Headrick; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors: wife, Evonne Headrick of Knoxville; step-daughter and husband, Vickie and Jerry Hayes of Seymour; grandsons, Joshua, Derek, and Kevan; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. A masonic service will follow at 8:00 p.m. conducted by the Beaver Ridge F & AM Lodge #366.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Justin Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
