Smith, Elva Perrin – passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19th as the beautiful evening sun went down, just 12 days before her 97th birthday, March 3. She was welcomed by her heavenly Father, as she stepped into her heavenly home. This was a much deserved rest ending the old and beginning a new eternal life. A faithful member of Glenwood Baptist Church and former member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church. She became a Christian at age 17. she worked at S.H. George and Sons and Watsons. Later she became a teacher's assistant in the reading program with Knox County Schools for 14 years. She became known for creating math and reading games. She was a loving, caring, and generous person, and was a Gibbs High School graduate.
Preceded in death by husband, Charles E.; parents, Earl and Axie Perrin; brother Kyle (Aileen); brother, Bruce (Fern); sister, Ruth, long time friend, Esther Duty.
Survived by: son, Earl Smith (Teresa); sister, Joann Perrin Wade (Leroy); loving nieces and nephews; special cousins, Charles and Jerry Stennette, Seymour; wonderful neighbors and friends; special friends, Katherine Pennington and Pearl Lemaster.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Stevens Chapel with Dr. Tom Lee and Rev. Dennis Blazier officiating, interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Glenwood Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
