DR. EARL C. HUDSON - age 91, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
He was the owner/operator and pharmacist of Hudson Drug Store, member, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher, at Alice Bell Baptist Church and Smithwood Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He and his wife Martha owned and trained the famous Blue-Tick Coon Hounds known as "Smokey" seen at UT football games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Blanche Wade Hudson; wife of 54 years, Martha Gower Hudson; grandson, Rance Hudson Trusley; sister, Mildred Hudson Brooks; brothers, Benjamin H. Hudson, and Harry E. Hudson; sisters-in-law, Lucretia Hudson, Mary Hudson, and Myrtle Hudson.
Survivors: wife, Bernice Hudson; children, Charles Hudson (Cindy), Nancy Hudson Anfinson, Jane Gower Hudson Trusley, Helen Hudson Boring (Mark), and John Wade Hudson (Andrea); step-children, Mark Jones (Karen), and Angela O'Neil (Dover); grandchildren, Sam, Katherine, Jason, Eric, Natalie, Brandon, Olivia, and Elizabeth; brother, Y.C. Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the General Fund of Smithwood Baptist Church, 4914 Jacksboro Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary. A Celebration of Earl's Life will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend David Collins officiating.
The family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 11:00 a.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
