FARMER, DONALD EDGAR - age 83, of Knoxville, passed into heaven Friday, November 3, 2017 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Don was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Powell, who loved his church. He retired from ORNL as a rigger, and was a union ironworker for most of his career. He closed out his career selling real estate with Elite Reality.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Colene Farmer, parents, Mahlon Carl and Mary Etta Farmer; brother, Bob Farmer; sisters, Josephine Guiton, Betty Llewellyn, Alice Spellings, and Dorothy Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Snyder Farmer, daughters, Dawn and son-in-law Randy Reagan, and Laura and son-in-law Rick Lynn; step sons, Woody Snyder, Stephen Snyder, and Scott and Dianna Snyder; grandchildren, Jordan (Luke) Wilkerson, Natalie (Wes) Caylor, Emily (Nic) Nicaud, Will (Andrea) Reagan, William Lynn, Heather Lynn, Ashley Lynn, and Shelton and Jennie Snyder; and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all those who have loved and cared for Don throughout his life, especially Dr. Robert Thompson and Pastor Phil Jones.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 2017, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church Powell. A celebration of life service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Phil Jones and Randy Reagan officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Serving the family, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
