David Evan Steele - age 76, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his home.
He was a member of Alice Bell Baptist Church and retired from Robertshaw Controls. He was a member of the Fountain City Lodge #757 F & AM and a US Air Force veteran. David loved to fish, hunt, eat a good steak, UT football, and to tell humorous stories. Most of all, he loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and he is with Him in heaven even now.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Connaster; parents, Curtis and Ella Steele; sister and brother-in-law, Willa Dean and Herman Clark; brother, James E. Steele; and brothers-in-law, J.D. Hipsher and Buddy Long.
Survivors: wife of 40 years, Marilyn Long Steele of Knoxville; daughters, Lisa Elgin of Colorado, Lori Steele of Arkansas, and Kerry (Tom) Horton of Mississippi; grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Kaitlen, David Hayden, Alesha, Blake, Courtney, Drew, and Ashley; 9 great-grandchildren with #10 on the way; sisters, Merry Sue Hipsher and Doris Ann Smith; brother, Paul Steele; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Chorn, Barbara Jenkins, and Judy Long; sister-in-law and husband, Peggy and Perry Price; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Alice Bell Baptist Church with Reverend Lee Chorn, Reverend Richard Spencer, and Reverend Toby Everett officiating. The family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Monday at Highland Memorial Park for graveside service and interment at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will be performed by the 118th Air Force Honor Guard.
