Obituary

David C. George age 71,of Knoxville, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. He was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church. David was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1964 and The University of Tennessee in 1973.He was a four year member of the Pride of The Southland Band. He was the Chorus Director at Whittle Springs Middle School for 30 years and the Choir Director at Washington Pike United Methodist Church for 38 years. David was an avid Tennessee Vols sports fan and never missed a home football game in 60 years.

Preceded in death by parents, Jimmy and Evelyn George; in-laws, Ken and Marie Seymour; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Bolinger and Kennie Seymour; nephew, David Bolinger, Jr.

Survivors: wife of 46 years, Becky Seymour George; daughter, Kristina Noel George; grand cat, Chloe Anne George; brother, Jimmy George, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Merrily George; brother-in-law, David Bolinger, Sr.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kathie Bowman; many nieces,nephews,great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Mortuary followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. James R. Bailes and John Self officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:00 noon on Monday at the mortuary to go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service and interment. Pallbearers: Dennis Bowman, Justin Estes, Justin Gast, John Self, David McKenzie and Paul Patterson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Serving the family, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
