Obituary

Hansard, Charles Albert - age 80 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 5, 2016. Charles was a Central High School graduate who participated in all sports while there. He served in the 119th Air National Guard for six years. He loved hunting and fishing and always enjoyed the monthly "old friends" meetings at Shoneys. He also enjoyed playing bingo on Tuesday nights at Beaver Brook Country Club. First and foremost however, Charlie was a dedicated fireman. He served in all areas of the Knoxville Fire Department. He retired as the Assistant Chief after over forty years of service.

Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Mettie Hansard; brother, Gene Avans; brother-in-law, Goldie Mason.

Survived by wife, Mary Ruth Hansard: sister, Fay Mason; sister-in-law, Ruby Avans; several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Charlie to Halls Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Jeff Sharp Treasurer, 3733 Whitworth Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37938 or the Knoxville Firefighters Building Fund, P.O. Box 5552, Knoxville Tennessee, 37928.

Family will receive friends 5-7 Monday November 7, 2016 at Stevens Mortuary with service to follow at 7p.m. Elder Bill Berry will officiate. Family and close friends will meet at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday November 8, 2016 at Highland Memorial Park for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service and interment. Honorary pallbears include close friends and members of the Knoxville Fire Department. Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway is serving the family of Mr. Hansard.
