SWEAT, CHARLES CLIFTON – Born June 6, 1936, served his country for 23 years in the US Army and Veterans Honor Guard. He went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ October 28, 2012 at 8:05 a.m. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church of Fountain City and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Paul Sweat; mother and father, Charles and Anna Ruth Sweat; sister, Catherine Walker; and brothers, Richard Sweat, John Sweat, and Don Sweat.
Survivors: daughter, Debra Francis; son, Raymond Sweat; grandchildren, nieces and nephews; 2 sisters, Pat Lawson (Gene), and Brenda Godfrey; 2 brothers, David Sweat (Vikki), of North Carolina, and Bill Sweat of Kentucky, along with many friends, including special friend Rhonda, the senior group at Temple Baptist Church, friends at Northgate Terrace, and his pastor and wife.
A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Temple Baptist Church of Fountain City with Pastor Charles Lawson officiating.
The family and friends will meet 11:15 a.m. Friday at the new Tennessee Veterans Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 11:30. Military honors will be performed by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Temple Baptist Church of Fountain City
