BURTON ACUFF - age 93, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains, a retired plumbing contractor and water pump service provider, and a US Army veteran of World War II.
His active lifestyle included a 65 plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Mascot Chapter #55 where he was a past Patron and the oldest member, Past Matron and Past Patron Association of Middle East Tennessee, Strawberry Plains Lodge #462 F&AM, 50 year member of the Grand Lodge F&AM of Tennessee, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and Shriners International.
Later in life, after purchasing a 1930 Model A Ford Sports Coupe, he became a member of the Tennessee Valley Model A Club where he enjoyed driving in parades and attending outings with fellow club members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, V. I. and Hazel Acuff; loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Lucille Acuff; sister, Wanda Acuff Clapp; and close friend, Tennie Snyder.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marty Acuff of Strawberry Plains; brother, Pete Acuff; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Kathleen Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
The family and friends will meet 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a graveside service and interment at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Ronnie White officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tennessee Valley Model A Club.
